Pitchin’ with Conviction – Focal Point Business Coaching Blanchardstown

You have your perfectly scripted sales script. You do have one, don’t you? You’ve practised it religiously and you know it inside out. Your ready for the world of selling. And your ready to deliver your killer “elevator pitch”.
Your going to knock them dead. But you don’t. Why?

Over the years I have witnessed some great sales pitches, and they are really enjoyable. You genuinely get involved as a potential customer. You get moved by someones genuine passion for what they do.
Sadly most of the sales pitches I’ve heard, have been atrocious.
I remember one in particular from someone in the same field as myself. Maybe that’s why it is so fresh in my memory.
I was at a networking event and the custom is to give a 30 second introduction, an elevator speech.

Firstly he sat, correction he lounged back on his chair. You can picture the scene. One arm draped over the back of the chair, the other carefully adjusting his privates ( with considerable skill I’ll admit, he has obviously been practising that more than his pitch), while he delivered quite a catchy little elevator pitch.

In fact the words he spoke were quite good. But was there any conviction? None. Did he project complacency? Absolutely. Did he command our attention? Well yes but for all the wrong reasons!

His pitch literally had no balls (I couldn’t resist). But that is what is needed in order for us to convey a meaningful message.
Your conviction to your message is everything.
Delivering is easy. Delivering with conviction is the key component to successfully selling yourself and your business.

Yes have a script. This is a pre requisite. Yes practice it until it becomes second nature. But practice the delivery more than the words.
Two people can deliver the same lines but with dramatically different outcomes and impacts.
You need to create impact.
I’m not asking you to do a John Di Martini here, and turn on the tears. Unfortunately that works for him, but it won’t work for you!.
Passion is easy to convey when you love what you do. If you don’t love what you sell. Stop selling it. You will never be truly successful.
If you love what you do then, craft a message that you can deliver with genuine conviction. Conviction moves people. Conviction persuades. Conviction convinces.
“Pitchin with Conviction” wins business.

Actions;
Why not record your “elevator pitch”? Listening or viewing your pitch can be an eye opener. If not why not get others to give you constructive feedback. Constructive feedback by the way is not always positive. People who tell you what you want to hear are an impediment to your sales success. Avoid them.
Try to inject more conviction and you’ll see the results. I guarantee it.
